A letter on print, leaving Medium, and making health feel like curiosity instead of dread.
I used to run a Risograph studio in Atlanta, printing for local artists and teaching workshops. I still collect print ephemera. Magazines, posters, whatever I can get. It is the root of how I think about design.
For the last three years I led brand design at Medium, mostly on my own. I loved the work, but I missed having a creative team around me. I knew Hannah, Superpower’s Head of Design, from design Twitter and ran into her on a trip to San Francisco. We started talking about the team she was building at Superpower, and that conversation eventually led me here.
I have had my own bad run with the healthcare system, so I know what it feels like to leave an appointment with no answers. Health is fraught for most people. If brand work can make someone feel a little curiosity about their own health instead of dread, that is worth doing.
I am in Chicago with my partner and our cat, Corndog. Records, farmer's markets, and White Sox games fill the rest.
